I'm used to ordering so many of the same pixel with minor variations, but the silky slimes really take the cake. The silky slimes were created by Meriko. I've known for a while that Meriko's an avatar editor expert, but I didn't know she made these adorable creatures as well. When I finally decided to seek out her shop, I discovered that she opened her own guild. In layman's terms, she used to have a thread in the minishops forum where she sells avatar edits. But she got her own guild, which you can think of as a small subforum. In this guild, she expanded her repertoire of pixels, which includes the silky slimes. The silky slimes are these cute, animated, blobby things. From a list, you can choose their color, their accessories, their base, their base accessories, and their emotes. As with the rest of Meriko's pixel merchandise, these things are very much in demand and she's usually not open to take orders for them. When I discovered the shop guild, I discovered the silky slimes. I sorely wanted one. Well, okay, I wanted the complete permuation of color, accessories, base, and base accessories there is. In other words, I wanted lots and lots of them. But I digress. I started hanging out in the shop guild and got to know the regulars there better. Meriko and Kimini started opening their order lists for avatar edits, and I was able to place orders. But the silky slime list continued to be closed. Then one day, LadyDelaidra, another shopkeeper who sells premade pixels that Meriko made (I got them in sixth page of this extended sig for adopteds), volunteered to take over the silky slimes shop as well. And thus my collection began. And it went downhill from there. Well, not quite yet. After a while, the silky slime thread got its own guild, its staff expanded, I met other people who love silky slimes as much as I do (or even more), and we all started our silky slime roleplay threads, pending order threads, whathaveyou. We can't get enough of these little guys. They must be lined with crack or something. As my collection of silky slimes grew, I decided they should have their extended sig category. Or else they'll overshadow any other group of pixels. Oh yeah, this is kind of random, but I also call them silkehs or slimehs <3. |

Slime Name ThemesYou might have noticed some familiar names among my silky slimes. I usually order silky slimes in bulk, causing LadyD to brick me. When I was putting together my first order form, I was thinking of just using "colorful" names to name my silkehs (like "Daisy" for a yellow silkeh). Then I remembered the computer naming scheme in my RL lab. Each of our computer equipment is given a coffee name. I snagged the name "Kahlua" before anybody else did. Whenever I called tech support and give my computer name, my labmates sniggered. So I used coffee names as the naming scheme for my first order of slimes. Here are all the themes I used in naming my slimehs. The slimehs are not arranged according to these naming schemes, but you may spot which go together. 1: Coffee |

By the way, in case you have not yet visited my avatar edit collection, the avatar edits you see here were also made by Meriko and M&K Inc. It epitomizes my two passions on Gaia: avatar edits and silky slimes. Now if only I can make really cute, blobby living things from out of test tubes. Actually... that might not be a good idea... considering I have two cats and cat hair all over the place... I always think silky slimes are these slick, jelly-like creatures that easily attract anything that can stick to them... And my cats, being the cats that they are, enjoy batting anything smaller than them with their pawsies... |
